Brown, a Democrat, plans to introduce a bill that would require the VA to notify veterans who file claims electronically that information and resources (such as veterans service groups) are available that could reduce their waiting time.

Brown is also co-sponsor of proposed legislation that would require the VA to periodically report its progress on reducing the claims backlog.

A similar request for monthly accountability reports was recently sent in a letter to the VA by Sen. Rob Portman and other Republican members of the Ohio congressional delegation.
