Politico: Richard Cordray confirmation vote to be held soon
After two years of being caught in the middle of Washington’s partisan warfare, Richard Cordray is on his way to being confirmed as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
“I’m thrilled that we’re going to finally confirm him, it looks like,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). “It’s good news, and he’s already made a difference at the agency and will continue to.”
Cordray’s confirmation, which comes with a five-year term, would take away the leverage Republicans have been trying to use to force changes on a key pillar of Dodd-Frank.
