Columbus Dispatch: Sen. Brown will fight ‘fast-track’ authority

WASHINGTON — Sen. Sherrod Brown made it clear yesterday that he will oppose Republican efforts next year to provide President Barack Obama with the same broad authority past presidents have used to negotiate trade agreements.

With Republicans taking control of the Senate in January and vowing to pass what is known as “fast-track” trade authority, Brown, D-Ohio, said he would support such a bill only if it included a “different set of rules that makes it easier for us to export American products, not American jobs.”
