Veterans and their families make so many sacrifices to answer the call of duty.

They deserve leaders who stand up for them each day. Every day, I work to make sure veterans can access the benefits they have earned through their service. And while that’s an ongoing effort, today is Veterans Day, which means that all of us should take the time to thank the veterans in our lives.

It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture — these soldiers and their families didn’t sign up for publicity — but a sincere acknowledgement of their service means a lot to veterans. Veterans may have served in the far corners of the world, but they are also our neighbors, and today is about thanking them for everything they have done.
