This week on the campaign: Here’s what you may have missed
It was another big week on Sherrod’s re-election campaign. In case you missed anything, here’s a rundown of what Team Sherrod was up to:
On Monday, we launched African Americans for Sherrod, a constituent group focused on Sherrod’s longstanding record of fighting for equity, representation, and civil rights.
At a packed launch event in Cleveland, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, and Representative Stephanie Howse all spoke about Sherrod’s work—for example, his efforts to expand access to healthcare, his dedication to education, and his support for equality in the workplace and fair pay—and why they’ll be supporting him in November.
But support for Sherrod goes beyond the crowded room at Monday’s launch. Al, a community leader and small business owner, shared his story and why he’s supporting Sherrod this fall. Take a look:
“I get up every day wanting to make my community better. I think Sherrod wakes up every day just like I do—wanting to make our country better.”

On top of an already busy week, we launched our “VP & Me” contest. Later this month, one lucky supporter (and a guest!) will get the chance to meet Sherrod and Vice President Joe Biden in Cleveland. If you haven’t already, be sure to get your name in for your chance to win.
And while the news continued to chug along, bringing one depressing story after another, we took a few minutes to appreciate some lighter moments.
