Dayton Firefighters IAFF Local 136 Endorses Sen. Sherrod Brown

COLUMBUS – Today, Dayton Firefighters IAFF Local 136 announced their endorsement of Sen. Sherrod Brown’s reelection.

“For as long as he has served in elected office, Sherrod Brown has had the backs of Ohio firefighters and emergency personnel,” said Gaylynn Jordan, president of Dayton Firefighters IAFF Local 136. “He fought to pass the FIRE Act and SAFER programs, which have been instrumental in allowing us to keep our families and our communities safe, and no one fought harder than Sherrod to beat back Gov. Kasich’s attack on our collective bargaining rights. For his political courage and steadfast support of firefighters and emergency personnel across Ohio, the Dayton Firefighters will work tirelessly to support Sherrod’s reelection.”

In response to the endorsement, Sen. Brown praised the Dayton Firefighters and reiterated his commitment to fighting in Washington for those who keep our communities safe.

“It humbles me to have the support of everyday heroes such as the Dayton Firefighters. These men and women risk their lives because they care deeply about the communities they serve, and I’m committed to ensuring that we honor their service,” Sherrod said. “That’s why I fought alongside Ohio’s middle class to defeat Senate Bill 5, the egregious attack on firefighters and other public workers. It’s why I’ll continue fighting in Washington for laws such as the FIRE Act and SAFER programs that strengthen the safety community and provide additional funding to departments across Ohio, allowing them to upgrade their equipment and put firefighters back to work keeping our communities safe.”

The Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters (OAPFF) has also endorsed Sen. Brown’s reelection.
