Editorial: Export Agent
Akron Beacon Journal – Make a list of the essential steps Ohio, and the rest of the country, must take to advance the economy, and increased exports would be near the top. The higher sales volume invites job creation. The challenge keeps a company sharp and, ideally, innovative. Consumer markets are emerging in developing countries. American firms should seek their share.
The opening isn’t reserved just for big, multinational companies. Smaller businesses have a role. Both have a stake in Congress reauthorizing and strengthening the Export-Import Bank, an independent federal agency that aids in financing for businesses that export their products. The authorization expires at the end of May, putting in jeopardy as many as 290,000 jobs.
