Four-Star General Johnnie E. Wilson Announces Support For Sherrod Brown: “Sherrod Brown Is A True Leader Who Cares About Veterans”
Retired General Says Sherrod “Is Taking Action And Taking The Lead,” “There Is No Stronger Advocate For Our Community.”
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Today retired U.S. Army Gen. Johnnie E. Wilson, a native of Lorain, Ohio, announced his endorsement of Sen. Sherrod Brown’s reelection to the U.S. Senate. General Wilson, a veteran of the Vietnam War, has served as commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, deputy chief of staff of logistics for the Department of the Army and at all levels of command. He and his wife Helen, of Elyria, Ohio, have three children and seven grandchildren.
See General Johnnie E. Wilson’s statement, endorsing Sherrod, below:
I served in the military for nearly 40 years. I began as a private, developed into a noncommissioned officer, earned a commission and went on to reach the rank of four-star general. Having served at every level of command—having led and been led—I have come to recognize and value leadership as a fundamental element of one’s character. It is for this simple, but profound, reason I proudly endorse Sherrod Brown for reelection to the U.S. Senate.
Simply put, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown is a leader. Whether fighting to put Ohio’s Veterans back to work, giving our returning heroes the educational opportunities they deserve, or securing necessary funding for equipment and medical care for our troops, he is taking action and taking the lead. We want a leader who is there every day and Sherrod Brown is there for Ohio’s Veterans and military families. There is no stronger advocate for our community.
It is important to me that the interests of Ohio’s Veterans and military families are looked out for. Sherrod Brown is a true leader who cares about Veterans. It is because we can count on him being in our corner that I will be supporting Senator Brown for reelection this fall.
Sen. Sherrod Brown released the following statement on General Wilson’s endorsement:
“I am deeply humbled to have earned the support of such an esteemed individual as retired U.S. Army General Johnnie E. Wilson. The brave men and women who serve our country deserve the very best equipment, necessary funding to do their work, first-class medical care, and the best educational and job opportunities our country has to offer when they return home. As long as I am privileged to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate, I will never stop fighting for our brave service members and their families, both at home and abroad.”
