Chillicothe Gazette — The U.S. Department of Energy has committed $4.4 million more for cleanup efforts at the DOE site in Piketon.

The funding is the latest infusion of cleanup dollars promised for the federal site, which operated for years as a gaseous diffusion plant to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, made the announcement on Thursday.
