Ohio Building Trades Endorse Sherrod Brown

DAYTON, OH  – Today, the Ohio Building Trades endorsed Senator Sherrod Brown’s reelection. The Ohio Building Trades, which represents nearly 100,000 workers across Ohio, endorsed Senator Brown ahead of Ohio’s primary election to send a clear message that regardless of his opponent Ohio workers stand with Sherrod.

“I am grateful to have the Building Trades by my side in our fight to make sure hard work pays off for everyone,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “Ohioans know that I will always fight for them and stand up to anyone who gets in the way, from Wall Street and special interests to presidents of both parties on bad trade deals. That’s what I’ve always stood for and why I’m running for reelection – because when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work.”

“No matter who you are, where you live, or what job you do, Sherrod Brown understands that your work has value,” said Mike Knisley, Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council. “There’s a reason Ohio Tradespeople keep electing Senator Sherrod Brown – because he delivers for us. We’re going to send him back to Washington this November so we can keep up the progress we’ve made together towards a stronger Ohio, and a brighter future for American workers.”

“We’re all here in support of our Senator, Sherrod Brown. Thank you, Senator Brown, for your unwavering commitment to working Ohioans and the union Building Trades,” said Dave Cox, a union Ironworker, member of Local 290, and Executive Director of the Dayton Building and Construction Trades Council.

Sherrod has always fought for workers and the Dignity of Work to make sure hard work pays off for everyone.

  • Sherrod worked directly with the Ohio Building Trades to ensure that Intel’s semiconductor plant in New Albany, made possible by the CHIPS Act Sherrod helped pass, will be built by Ohio union workers with a project labor agreement.
  • Sherrod led the fight to restore the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans through the Butch Lewis Act, named after an Ohio Teamster.
  • Sherrod worked to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law with prevailing wage requirements, creating good-paying jobs for workers in the trades across Ohio rebuilding our infrastructure.
  • Sherrod has always stood up against bad trade deals like NAFTA that shipped Ohio jobs overseas and is fighting to make sure workers have a seat at the table for all trade agreements.
  • Sherrod is also working to grow the next generation of Ohio Building Tradespeople by organizing summer manufacturing camps across Ohio that give young people an opportunity to learn about a future in the industry.
