Chip in $20 to support Sherrod Brown's Campaign

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Endorses Senator Sherrod Brown for Reelection

COLUMBUS, OH  – Today, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers endorsed Senator Sherrod Brown for reelection, citing Sherrod’s longtime commitment to working families and his work to save the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans through the Butch Lewis Act. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers represents more than 21,000 Ohioans – including Sherrod’s non-management campaign staff  – and is one the largest unions in the United States.

“I am honored to have the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers by my side in our fight to make sure hard work pays off for everyone,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “IBEW workers keep the lights on in Ohio and make countless Ohioans’ lives easier, safer, and better by creating the technology of the future. I will always fight for Ohio workers to ensure they receive fair wages, good benefits, and the retirement they’ve earned.”

“The IBEW proudly endorses longtime friend and labor champion Senator Sherrod Brown for reelection,” said IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper. “Sherrod Brown has voted with the IBEW on every law, regulation, and provision during his time in the U.S. Senate. His commitment to strong labor standards, real retirement, and a clean energy future built with good union jobs makes him a dependable ally of the 820,000 members of the IBEW. We in fact have no better friend in Congress.”

“Sherrod Brown and I grew up in the same small town in Ohio. I have witnessed firsthand how his leadership can help revive communities and be a voice for the IBEW. The IBEW will do whatever we can to ensure Senator Brown returns to the Senate where together we can continue to fight for working families and the good union jobs their communities deserve,” continued IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper.

Sherrod has always fought for IBEW workers and the Dignity of Work to make sure hard work pays off for everyone:

  • Sherrod introduced the Protecting the Right to Organize Act to protect workers’ rights to bargain for fairer wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions.
  • Sherrod introduced the Restoring Overtime Pay Act to enshrine overtime pay protections into law and expand who qualifies for overtime pay so millions more Americans are paid for the hours they work.
  • Sherrod led the years-long fight to pass the Butch Lewis Act and successfully saved the pensions of over 400 IBEW workers.
  • Sherrod led the CHIPS and Science Act to ensure the future of technology is built in Ohio, by Ohio workers.
  • For over a decade, Sherrod has partnered with organizations and labor unions to host Summer Manufacturing Camps to teach young Ohioans about the manufacturing industry and the range of jobs within the industry.
