COLUMBUS, OH – Today, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) endorsed Senator Sherrod Brown for reelection. From postal workers, to aviation experts, bricklayers, and musicians, the AFL-CIO represents 600,000 Ohio workers across 1,500 local labor unions.
“The AFL-CIO is making sure the workers who make Ohio great have fair wages, safe working conditions, and the seat at the table they deserve,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “AFL-CIO workers know that no matter where you live, what you do, whether you swipe a badge, punch a clock, or work for tips, your work has dignity. I’m honored to have the AFL-CIO by my side in our fight to ensure every family has a path to the middle class.”
“The Ohio AFL-CIO Executive Board voted unanimously and enthusiastically to endorse Sherrod Brown for re-election. Senator Brown is a true champion of working people and a fierce advocate of unions and expanding the middle class,” said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga. “Sherrod means what he says about the ‘Dignity of Work’ that is why he authored the Butch Lewis Act that was signed into law saving the pensions of hundreds of thousands of retirees. Senator Brown voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and ensured that ‘Buy American’ provisions were included in the law while also cracking down on the Chinese government’s illegal practice of dumping steel on our markets. Sherrod has had our back and we look forward to another six years of his leadership in the Senate.”
“The choice for U.S. Senate in Ohio is clear. Senator Sherrod Brown has served Ohio with integrity and honor and is known nationally as the most pro-worker, pro-retiree Senator in the country,” said Melissa Cropper, Ohio AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer and President of the Ohio Federation of Teachers. “The Ohio AFL-CIO and hundreds of thousands of union members and retirees are ready to work tirelessly between now and Election Day to ensure that Senator Brown continues his fight for us in the U.S. Senate.”
Sherrod has always fought for AFL-CIO workers and the Dignity of Work to make sure hard work pays off for everyone:
