COLUMBUS, OH – Today, Friends of Sherrod Brown launched “Workers for Sherrod,” a coalition of Ohio workers backing Sherrod’s reelection. Throughout April, workers across Ohio endorsed Sherrod because they know he will always fight to make sure their hard work pays off.
“Corporations don’t power our state, Ohio workers do, and I am honored to have them by my side in our fight to make sure hard work pays off for everyone,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “Ohio workers know that I will always fight for them and stand up to anyone who gets in the way, from Wall Street and special interests to presidents of both parties when they push for bad trade deals. That’s what I’ve always stood for and why I’m running for reelection – because when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work.”
“Workers for Sherrod” co-chairs and Ohio Labor leaders Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga and Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council Executive Secretary-Treasurer Mike Knisley cited Sherrod’s fight to save the pensions of over 100,000 Ohio workers, his work to ensure workers have a seat at the table, and his commitment to building a path to the middle class for all Ohioans.
“The choice for U.S. Senate in Ohio is clear. Sherrod has always had Ohio workers’ backs and we look forward to another six years of his leadership,” said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga. “Sherrod means what he says about the ‘Dignity of Work,’ which is why he saved 100,000 Ohioans’ pensions through the Butch Lewis Act, secured ‘Buy American’ provisions in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and continues to ensure Ohio remains the future of the manufacturing industry.” “Ohio workers continue to support Sherrod Brown because he delivers for us,” said Mike Knisley, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council. “No matter who you are, where you live, or what job you do, Sherrod Brown understands that your work has value. From fighting for fair wages and better benefits, to protecting the right to organize, to providing training opportunities for young Ohioans, Sherrod represents what it means to be pro-worker. Ohio workers are going to reelect Sherrod because no one fights for workers like he does.”
