Husted Played Central Role In Scheme That Caused Ohioans To Pay Thousands More For Electricity
COLUMBUS, OH – A new ad highlights Jon Husted’s central role in the FirstEnergy bribery scheme, the largest public corruption scandal in Ohio history, that cost Ohioans thousands on their electricity bills. An independent investigation uncovered scores of messages and secret meetings with utility company executives, saying Husted “led the charge” to give companies a billion-dollar taxpayer funded bailout. Husted played such a central role, he was forced to testify for the utility executives in a state criminal trial earlier this year.
“Ohioans are paying thousands of dollars more on their energy bills because of Jon Husted’s corruption,” said Sherrod Brown. “Jon Husted’s central role in this bribery scandal is just another example of him putting billionaires before hard working people. Ohioans shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for corrupt politicians and corporations.”
